The Implacability of Things

2023-24

Old and new souvenirs, vintage side table, glues and metal bolts. 94cm wide, 92cm high and 45cm deep.

The Implacability of Things is named after a 2012 article by Jonathan Lamb, visible online at The Public Domain Review. In it, Lamb discusses the agency of objects and their implacable gaze, irrespective of their origin stories. Begun in 2023 and first exhibited at the Ilam Campus Gallery Ōtautahi Christchurch, as part of the solo exhibition The Ambassadors, it was reworked for exhibition in 2024 at Sumer Gallery, Tamaki Makaurau Auckland.
