The Gumby Projections
1998 and 1999
Plasticine, smeared directly onto walls. Approximately 160cm x 160cm.
The Dymaxion map projection of the world, designed by American polymath Buckminster Fuller, can look like the figure of Gumby, a character in a retro ‘claymation’ TV series. One iteration of the work was made for my graduating Masters exhibition in 1998 at Sydney College of the Arts, and remade the following year in a solo show at the Jonathan Smart Gallery in Ōtautahi, Christchurch, The World Interrupted.
